Destined to Rise – Chapter 72

Outsiders

Amanda chuckled, “So it’s Maria who’s in charge of the Whitaker family. What? Can an aunt decide whether Scarlett gets married or not?”

Tsk, using Scarlett’s marriage to threaten them. If she didn’t spit in her face, did Maria think the Miller Family were easy to bully?

Whitaker Scarlett was anxious to go out and collect eels. Compared to her money-making plan, the Whitaker family’s weight was too light.

“Let me say a few words. I won’t return to the Whitaker family, and I won’t agree to my mother returning either. Even if she sold herself to the Whitaker family, she has repaid her debt through years of hard work. Don’t glare at me. Rumors are spreading everywhere, ruining my reputation and forcing me to commit suicide. What the truth is, Aunt might already know it in her heart.

First, I have absolutely no improper relationship with Wesley. I didn’t have one before, and I won’t have one in the future. Second, even if all the men in the world were dead, I wouldn’t seduce Whitaker Rosalie’s husband… I won’t admit to these two huge accusations!”

Whitaker Scarlett hated it when things weren’t made clear, and people kept beating around the bush.

Some people in Wellwater village had also heard the rumors, but they just didn’t bring them up to the Miller Family. Whitaker Scarlett didn’t want others to speculate arbitrarily, so she simply clarified things. She had done nothing wrong. Although the “original owner” looked frivolous, she hadn’t done anything improper. Her interactions with Walter Janson were mutual, and they hadn’t crossed the final line!

Whitaker Scarlett would settle accounts with Whitaker Rosalie and Walter Janson sooner or later.

Looking at Whitaker Chris, she couldn’t help but sneer:

“Did you understand what happened? When rumors drove me to a dead end, did you have a shred of love for your daughter? After so many days, do you want to settle accounts with Wesley, who ruined my reputation? You didn’t, right? Then why do you think I should go back to the Whitaker family? Why would I give up being a decent person and go back to be a fawning dog?!”

Whitaker Chris’s mouth hung open.

Veronica muttered, “You did such a shameful thing; who would bother to ask?”

“So, Aunt means that even if Helen carries this reputation, you won’t care?”

Veronica was furious. If Helen was talked about so badly, she would have already taken a hoe and fought with people. Even Wesley would beat him half to death to see if anyone dared to talk nonsense!

Veronica realized that she had been led astray by Whitaker Scarlett, and she started scolding:

“My Helen is not promiscuous. Flies don’t land on a seamless egg. If you weren’t involved with Wesley, why are people talking about you? Aunt, I’m not going to argue with you, girl. Come back, apologize to your grandmother, and let Rosalie forgive you. We’re still a family!”

“Sister-in-law!”

Maria was in a panic. Veronica, that brainless woman, was about to provoke Whitaker Scarlett.

The top priority was to appease Whitaker Scarlett. Only by returning to the Whitaker family could they smooth things over.

“Your aunt is just speaking out of anger. How could your grandmother hold a grudge against her granddaughter? Even your sister Rosalie hasn’t blamed you…”

Whitaker Scarlett ignored the two women’s nonsense. She only asked Whitaker Chris:

“Is that true? Do I have to go back and apologize to Grandma and Whitaker Rosalie?”

Maria frantically signaled to Whitaker Chris. Whitaker Chris hesitated for a moment, then admitted his thoughts: “Your grandmother fell ill, your sister doesn’t mind, you can’t really act like nothing happened.”

He meant that if the mother and daughter were to return, they had to apologize.

Family harmony brings prosperity. If others forgave Whitaker Scarlett, there would be no more arguments in the family.

William was so angry that his eyes were about to pop out. Amanda had never seen such a father. It seemed that Whitaker Scarlett had said so much, but Whitaker Chris hadn’t listened to a word!

Whitaker Scarlett felt that she couldn’t reason with an idiot anymore.

Elizabeth, who had been looking down at the ants, seemed to be struck to the core and suddenly raised her head:

“Scarlett won’t apologize. Are you deaf? Didn’t you hear Scarlett speak? She didn’t do anything wrong. Outsiders bullied her, and her own Whitaker family wanted to force her to death.
