Against the Alpha’s Claim – Chapter 154

“It is not,” his mother said. “I only engage in that behaviour when I am extremely irate and no longer wish to listen to your father’s perspective.”

“When do you engage in combat?”

“Indeed, it occurs.” However, we maintain that in secrecy.

I endeavour to avoid irritating your mother initially, son. It is the superior choice.

I did not intend to. I was not even close to her the first time. I am uncertain about the origin of the third occurrence. We are not…

“This process will require time, Luke.” Significant historical events happened there, son. The girl experiences genuine agony and terror. “You cannot anticipate that it will vanish overnight,” his mother admonished him with a scowl. “Did you genuinely believe that everything would be fine merely because you Marked and Mated her?”“

“I suppose I did,” he exhaled.

“Fool,” his mother said. “Have you taken the time to apologise to her yet?” Conveyed your emotions to her.

“I am confident she is aware of my feelings; I was unable to restrain myself last night.” Desired her more than anybody else.

“Son,” his father stated. “Do not confuse the Mate Bond with emotions; females are…” he directed his gaze to his own Mate, “sentimental beings.” You marked and mated last night, and that is all. Neither more nor less.

“Even if you professed your love to her and she reciprocated,” his mother sighed, “it is merely the Mate Bond.” Your initial experience as a mated pair, following the scenting ritual, will evoke feelings of love and affection during the marking and mating process. Your son has an unresolved negative history. “Until that is accomplished.” He observed his mother shake her head, “You will either engage in combat, or she will instigate confrontations with you.” Your wolves first mated among themselves; she may perceive that she had no agency in becoming your Mate. She may not have desired it under the circumstances. She shook her head.

“Why would she approach my bed?”He scowled, “Embrace me.”

“The bond, likely influenced by her wolf’s agenda.” You cannot comprehend the emotions I had with her, nor do I desire it for you, my son. However, that will not just dissipate with Marking and Mating.

“Are you implying that I am bonded to a woman who despises me, and that the bond compels her to desire me?”He found that sound unappealing.

“Son, it is not animosity,” his father exhaled. “No, a she-wolf would not mark and mate with an individual she despises.” Not even her wolf could compel her to do it. At some level, she must desire it. However, you did expel her and bring her back here. It terrified her when I saw her that day. I was really apprehensive about you. As your mother stated, that will not simply dissipate overnight.

I am unable to comprehend how to rectify it. I am unable to alter the past.

“No, you are unable to.” However, you may begin to compensate for it.

“In what manner?”He exhaled with frustration, well aware that he was uncertain about how to begin. “She seldom communicates with me, and Tyler bit me today, directly on the face.”

Observed both of his parents gazing at him now. “What is the reason?”“They both enquired simultaneously.”

“I am uncertain; Bella merely gazed at me upon regaining control and did not apologise for her wolf’s bite. I doubt she considered it unwarranted.”

“It appears that her wolf is probably responding to Bella’s emotions.” You may require a conversation; directly enquire about her feelings.

“Experiences pain, was abruptly excluded by Tyler, as she perceived it. Maddis experienced it briefly, then they departed from us, and are absent at present.

“It will require time, son,” his mother moaned. “Be kind to the girl; smile at her, hold her hand, and express your happiness, desire to be with her, and love for her.”

“Apologize for everything,” his father groaned. “Regardless of its nature or how trivial it may appear to you, it may not be insignificant to her.” “Apologize, and then apologise again.”

“I fail to comprehend how incessantly apologising for trivial matters will be beneficial.” He raised both hands in response to his parents’ irritated expressions, as if they believed he would not articulate his thoughts at all. “Indeed, I will express my condolences for the life she endured; I have already apologised for her having to raise the children alone.” He believed that the conversation may have progressed more favourably had it not been stopped by Tim’s call.

“A commendable beginning, son,” his mother acknowledged. “Although she mentioned her reluctance to work in Luna’s office, I believed it belonged to Mia.” I distinctly sensed that she preferred not to be anywhere that woman accompanied you.

“I cannot hold her accountable for that.” He murmured, “Nor do I.” He did not, having refrained from entering the chamber he had once occupied with her. Had it gutted, remodelled, and resided somewhere. At least she had never entered his Alpha Suite, she grimaced at the notion, then stood and departed.

Entered his apartment, directly approached Bella, took her hand, guided her into the corridor, excused her from the children, and locked the door behind them. She glanced at her raised eyebrows and stated, “I have never hosted a woman in this suite.” “No one at all ever,” he stated. “I did not occupy his suite and designate it as the alpha suite until I assumed control.”

Bella nodded, appearing perplexed by his explanation.

I do not wish for you to believe that she was ever present here. She was not.

“Understood.”

This is our apartment, belonging to both you and myself. You may redesign it according to your preferences. I desire your happiness in this place. This residence belongs to you and the children, so feel free to customise it as you choose.

She only gazed up at him, offering little more than a nod. He stared down at her, uncertain of what to say at that moment, desiring to embrace and kiss her, while questioning whether she desired the same. He was apprehensive that his parents’ assertions were accurate. Did Tyler compel her to be with him?

Bella, once the cherished lover of future Alpha Luke of the Red Moon Pack, finds her world shattered when she is banished from her pack. Her crime? Striking Luke’s newly discovered fated mate with claws unsheathed—a reflex her wolf, Tyler, cryptically defends with the words, “To protect the pup.” Stripped of her place in the pack and warned never to return, Bella complies, narrowly avoiding the rogue label since Luke has not yet ascended to full Alpha status. Heartbroken and resolute, she retreats to the human world, immersing herself in university life to complete her law degree. Bella carves out a new existence as a successful divorce attorney, far from the pack that cast her aside, the future Luna who despises her, and the secret she guards fiercely—her children, the legacy of a love she can never reclaim. Six years pass in self-imposed exile, but the past refuses to stay buried. When an official letter from the Red Moon Pack demands her return, Bella defiantly burns it, vowing never to step foot in Luke’s territory again. But Luke, now the reigning Alpha, is relentless. He will bring her back, no matter the cost. Bound by the constraints of human law and society, Luke cannot simply take her by force—her prominence in the human world complicates any attempt to make her disappear. Yet, he is determined to claim what he believes is his by right. As their paths cross again, Bella is thrust into a storm of conflicting emotions. Her wolf yearns for Luke, urging her to reclaim the bond they share, but Bella’s heart is torn. She despises the man who cast her out yet still feels the undeniable pull of their connection. To her, Luke’s motives are clear: he wants his heirs by his side, not her. She believes his wolf drives him to claim her, while the man himself sees her merely as the mother of his children, a convenient solution to his legacy. But is that the truth? Or does Luke harbor a deeper love for her that he has yet to admit—even to himself? In the battle between pride and fate, will Bella surrender to the mate bond or stand firm in her resolve to remain free? Only time will reveal whether their fractured past can heal, or if the scars will prove too deep to overcome.
