That was the end of their messages.
However, the lingering feelings from their exchange lasted for quite a while.
He seemed like a person who kept promises to the letter. Back then, while walking around National Palace Museum, he had said he would take her to the sea someday, and he indeed put that into action.
About a month into their relationship, Dylan took Lola for a drive to the East Sea, spending three to four hours on the road.
After unpacking at the hotel, the two of them came outside in comfortable clothes and began walking along the beach, where the fine sand stood out beautifully. At first, Lola walked slowly on the sand with Dylan, but suddenly, at some point, her pace began to quicken.
She dashed ahead, snapping photos with the camera Dylan had bought her, her expression as joyful as a fish that had just found water. With a face full of laughter, she captured the seagulls soaring into the summer sky and the unusually clear blue sky that day. The fluffy clouds drifting in the blue sky were so pretty that she kept clicking the shutter.
The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was pleasant, so she paused for a moment, closed her eyes, and listened intently. Then, she took off her shoes and walked barefoot on the sand. Spotting a seagull settled on the sand, she carefully approached it with her camera in hand.
Dylan, who had been walking slowly behind her, found himself smiling without realizing it.
So she has that side to her too!
Her childlike, excited expression looked innocent. The sound of her laughter, which occasionally reached his ears, was delightful. Her back view as she ran felt cute.
Watching her intently, Dylan felt a strange sensation.
“Dear…”
As she dipped her feet in the sea, Lola waved her hand toward Dylan.
Even though Nia Aliza, who had come looking for Lola, must have said something uncomfortable, for some reason, she hadn’t mentioned Nia’s name until now.
Dylan liked her generous nature, which didn’t nitpick about everything.
Interpreting every little thing was truly exhausting.
“Come and dip your feet too, Dear.”
Lola said as she approached Dylan.
“I don’t want to.”
“The sea water is really refreshing.”
“I said I don’t want to.”
“It’s nice.”
He firmly rejected her, but perhaps it was because she found his appearance in a comfortable T-shirt and shorts so relaxed that she kept insisting.
“I said I don’t want to.”
Dylan rejected her once more. Suddenly, a mischievous expression appeared on Lola’s face, which had been pouting. In the next moment, she splashed water at Dylan playfully. Dylan, slightly frowning, raised his hands to block it and stepped back to avoid the water. A burst of laughter, filled with joy, escaped her lips.
Again, she splashed water at him, this time even harder than before.
“Lola, that’s too much.”
Dylan said in a husky voice, but there was no way it would reach the excited Lola. The water she splashed soaked Dylan’s T-shirt. Yet, she didn’t stop her reckless behavior.
As Dylan was blocking the water with both hands and trying to avoid it, he suddenly stepped forward, causing Lola to stop her antics and stand there blankly.
The distance between them gradually closed. There was an inexplicable sense of danger coming from him as he walked closer. Only then did Lola sense something was off and, feeling scared, took a step back, but it was already too late. Dylan stepped forward and pulled her waist into an embrace. Her face bumped against his solid chest.
Thump, thump! Her heart began to race.
“Lola, I think this is getting out of hand.”
His husky voice tickled her neck and ear.
Even she thought her guts had swelled. How dare she play such a mischievous prank on Dylan, the ‘grim reaper’?
Why did I do that?
Something must be wrong with my head.
“I-I’m sorry. I won’t… do it again.”
At times like this, one must admit they were wrong. Otherwise, they might not survive in this world.
“I think it’s too late to say that.”
So what does that mean?
Thump, thump! Her heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might burst out of her chest.
With her face buried in his chest, Dylan’s next words reached her ears.
“What should I do? I don’t want to let you go like this.”
What does that mean?
Before she could even grasp the meaning of his words, Dylan cupped her face with both hands.
His deep, intense gaze held desire.
Whether it was just her own delusion, she couldn’t tell.
But…
It wasn’t a delusion.
His handsome face came so close that she felt his breath, and then his lips descended upon hers as if to engulf her.
