“Well… I wonder if it’s because I’ve been thinking and worrying a lot lately?”
“Then shall we talk about the feelings or emotions you’re experiencing, Nia Aliza?”
“Is Dylan your boyfriend? Are you two dating?”
This was a rather unexpected question that strayed far from the topic.
Indeed, the woman had not come simply to get a prescription for sleeping pills, as she had predicted. There was another reason for her visit.
Perhaps she was here to confirm whether she and Dylan Eve were dating.
Though she felt uncomfortable, Lola tried hard not to show it.
“Isn’t Dylan a bit prickly? A cold man like him wouldn’t suit someone like Teacher Lola Dax.”
Nia crossed her legs and changed her posture with an air of arrogance.
“I’m just saying this out of unnecessary concern. You look like my younger sister. I heard you and Gia are very close friends.”
“I appreciate the advice. Now, shall we continue our previous conversation?”
Under normal circumstances, her timid personality would have made it impossible to speak so clearly in front of such a confident woman. However, inside the consultation room, Lola Dax was able to be bold and calm.
She was a psychiatrist, and the woman in front of her was a patient.
Lola repeatedly engraved that fact in her mind.
“As I mentioned earlier, I’ve had insomnia for quite a while. I’m still taking medication.”
“If you take sleeping pills for too long, the changes in sleep stages can worsen your insomnia. To overcome insomnia, it’s important to maintain a regular lifestyle and practice good sleep hygiene.”
“I think I might want to change my medication.”
“If your insomnia is severe enough that you can’t sleep at all, I can prescribe medication, but to completely overcome insomnia, you need to undergo regular treatment.”
“Okay. For now, just prescribe the sleeping pills.”
Nia shrugged her shoulders slightly as she spoke.
A moment later, after the consultation ended, Nia stood up and said something puzzling.
“I’m glad to have met you like this. It seems we’ll be seeing each other quite often, so let’s get along well, Teacher Lola Dax.”
Lola felt no warmth from the woman with a face as expressionless as a steel plate, and she had no desire to get along.
However, she did not express her displeasure even once before Nia left the consultation room.
Finally, as the sound of her heels clicking away faded, Lola’s expression changed to one of turmoil.
She felt an unknown crisis and extreme anxiety simultaneously.
Meanwhile, as Nia walked down the hospital corridor, one corner of her mouth curled up in a smirk.
With an ordinary face that could be seen anywhere, and half-tied short hair, she truly seemed to have nothing special about her.
But why?
What could the handsome and successful Dylan Eve possibly lack that he would date such an ordinary woman?
It felt like even a passing dog would laugh at this.
Why was Dylan Eve dating such a woman?
There were certainly eyes watching!
Was there mold in his eyes? Or had Dylan Eve lost his mind?
His taste was indeed peculiar.
Yet the more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
If Dylan Eve were dating a woman with a glamorous background like herself, she wouldn’t feel this miserable.
In the end, Nia left the hospital without even taking the prescribed medication.
*****
It hadn’t been long since she left the investigation room and sat down in the office chair when the phone on the desk rang.
The caller was Gia.
As Dylan didn’t pick up the phone right away, a text message soon followed.
[Who is that woman?]
Dylan frowned as he read the message that popped up on his phone screen.
What kind of nonsense is this in the middle of the night?
How could he possibly know who she was when she suddenly sent a message like that, cutting off everything else?
Moreover, the tone was quite irritating.
Holding the phone, Dylan pressed the shortcut for Gia’s number.
The ringtone rang only a few times before Gia quickly answered. Without any preamble, she asked.
– Who is that woman?
Though it was uncomfortable to hear, Dylan’s voice remained calm.
“Speak clearly. Who would understand if you talk like that?”
– That woman, you know, the one who looks like a vixen.
“A vixen?”
As Gia continued to speak in a way he couldn’t understand, Dylan’s brows furrowed.
– That woman, you know? The one named Nia Aliza or something. The one who was clinging to you like a leech at the rib restaurant the other day.
Only then did Dylan seem to grasp why Gia had called him. His expression became calmer than before.
“Gia Eve, if someone saw this, they might think you’re my wife.”
– If I make a mistake, I might end up with a new sister-in-law, so I have to stay alert, right?
