Her Two Lives – Chapter 24

Sleepy

Something… mischievous.

At the mention of “cake,” Avira Nassy’s attention immediately shifted to Clinton, who was gracefully holding the car door open. Her previously lazy gaze finally brightened, shimmering with excitement.

Her expression seemed to say, Cake is amazing, please give me cake!

Clinton’s smile froze for a second.

Why did he suddenly feel like he was being mistaken for a food dispenser?

Their figures vanished down the street, bathed in the sunset’s glow, leaving the crowd behind, still in shock.

Even though Asake hadn’t said much, his actions had clearly warned everyone: don’t mess with Avira.

It was strange…

He looked no different from usual.

But just now…

It had felt like the very air had frozen with pressure.

A suffocating pressure that made it hard to breathe…

The car ride was a bit long. Maybe because the seats were so soft and comfortable, or perhaps because the car’s interior had a faint, pleasant scent, Avira had already fallen asleep in the back seat.

She slept quietly, her small and delicate nose, pinkish lips, and long eyelashes casting intricate shadows in the moving lights. Curled up in the corner, she resembled a lazy cat.

Under the flowing lights, she looked as pristine as ever, save for the striking red ribbon around her wrist, which stood out like a freshly bloomed rose.

Asake Bull watched her silently, a gentle curve gracing his lips.

Outside the window, golden light skimmed his eyes, breathtakingly beautiful.

He gently adjusted her position so that she lay sideways on the seat, resting her head on his lap, making her sleep more comfortable.

Noticing the papers she was clutching, which were about him, the smile on his lips deepened.

She’s been thinking about me all along.

That’s good.

Being able to sleep so peacefully, so defenseless, in front of him—this, too, was good.

He lowered his gaze, long black lashes casting faint shadows.

His softened eyes rested on her delicate jawline.

His pale, slender fingers brushed lightly against it, as if there were still some dirt left behind.

In his mind, he could still see her casually patting Ashton’s head, and how she had been so naturally held by Orson, not to mention the people who had just dared to touch her.

“Dear… they call you that, don’t they?”

His soft voice was as pure as moonlight over the ocean, full of certainty.

“You know… if I kept you trapped, you’d definitely try to escape, wouldn’t you?”

He knew that such things wouldn’t mean much to her, but…

They were still an eyesore.

If he could, he really wanted to keep her beside him forever.

This toy… could only be his.

His long fingers brushed her cheek softly.

Such a gentle touch, as if teasing a little kitten.

Avira instinctively lifted her face and nuzzled against his hand, pressing her cheek into his palm.

“Mm… warm… so comfortable…”

Her voice was soft, like a feather, echoing quietly, like a stone thrown into a lake bathed in moonlight, causing ripples to spread in elegant patterns.

Asake smiled quietly, not withdrawing his hand. His eyes, radiant as a starry sky, held a shimmering, dewy light, bright as crystal.

Avira Nassy, now…

I might not want to let you go to anyone else anymore…

The gray-themed room had hardwood floors covered with a patterned rug.

Moonlight filtered through sheer beige curtains, tracing silvery lines.

On the wide, French-style bed, Avira furrowed her brows and slowly opened her eyes.

This wasn’t the familiar scent of her home…

She sat up sluggishly. This fragrance…

It smelled like Asake… even the pillow was soft and carried his scent…

She didn’t need to think too hard to realize that this had to be Asake’s house.

How strange…

Although she was often sleepy, she never slept deeply if someone was nearby. Was it because she was particularly tired today?

Or was it…

Because Asake felt so familiar to her… like that other person?

That person…

Avira lowered her gaze slightly, absentmindedly staring at the red ribbon on her wrist.

That person was someone she had always wanted to surpass in this world, someone she trusted more than anyone else…

She got out of bed, unable to find her shoes, so she simply walked barefoot across the floor and opened the door.

“You’re awake.”

The maid standing outside bowed respectfully as soon as she saw her.

Avira’s latest mission as an undercover agent wasn’t supposed to be this complicated—or this peculiar. Tasked with infiltrating a struggling high school boys’ basketball team and transforming them into champions, she quickly realizes that leading this ragtag group to victory against the reigning national champions might be her toughest challenge yet. Posing as an ordinary student (and an honorary “guy” for the duration of the mission), Avira juggles her covert operation with the chaos of teenage life. The team is anything but ordinary. Among her teammates are a mysterious top model whose fame precedes him, a fiercely loyal underdog willing to give his all, a quirky butler who somehow ends up coaching them off the court, and a youth with an uncanny ability to predict outcomes, who might just know too much. The group’s photogenic charm and eccentric personalities may win hearts, but charm alone won’t win championships. As Avira tries to motivate the team, she finds herself not only navigating the physical demands of the game but also unraveling the unique struggles each player brings to the court. She discovers untapped potential, builds unlikely friendships, and learns that teamwork is about more than just playing a game—it's about trust, sacrifice, and heart. As they climb the ranks and face off against increasingly skilled and intimidating opponents, Avira realizes there’s more at stake than a shiny trophy. Secrets simmer beneath the surface, rivalries intensify, and her dual life as an agent threatens to derail the mission. The looming final match against the reigning national champions becomes a battleground not just for victory but for redemption, loyalty, and uncovering hidden truths. But with so many unknowns, one question remains: Can Avira and her team defy the odds, or will their journey end in heartbreak? The stakes are high, the tension is palpable, and the final outcome? It’s anyone’s game.
