Why was he getting angry?
Was it due to a strong possessiveness? Even if she was just a wife in name, they were a couple now, so it felt like someone had touched his wife.
Even trying to think that way, a part of his heart still felt heavy.
“What a pathetic guy, making a fool of himself.”
That was the calmest response Ryan could muster.
But when he heard that even her male friend had confessed to her, his eyebrows shot up in disbelief.
Why was he being so forward? How charming could she be that even a long-time male friend had liked her for years!
Ryan’s eyebrows twitched uncontrollably as he listened quietly.
One guy, two guys… at this rate, would even actors and the raccoon show up?
Just show up, will you?
‘Ha, Ryan Iglis, what on earth are you thinking?’
Ryan relaxed the fist he had been holding.
He thought the thoughts he was having were just drunken ramblings. They would all be forgotten by the next morning.
Was it because Alice had shared her past with him?
Ryan found himself chattering about wounds he had never shared with anyone, wounds he had buried deep and never wanted to uncover, to Alice.
It was a secret he had never brought up before, but he felt it was okay to tell Alice.
‘The anniversary is coming up soon.’
The anniversary of his mother’s passing was approaching. A chill filled Ryan’s eyes.
Of course, before he could tell her everything, Alice had fallen asleep.
Alice lay defenseless before Ryan, unaware of the world.
How should he move this woman?
Ryan felt frustrated as his mind became more complicated, and he ruffled his hair.
He poked Alice’s arm one last time.
As expected, there was no movement.
Ha. Ryan let out a small sigh.
He couldn’t drag Alice up to the second floor, and he hesitated to just barge into her room.
In the past, he would have simply gone to his room without caring if she was sleeping like this.
She would find her way to her place when she woke up.
The old Ryan would have done that, but now he couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable seeing Alice’s back as she lay there.
“I’m going crazy.”
Since he couldn’t give up his bed, the only option was to carry Alice and lay her down in the guest room on the first floor.
Ryan reluctantly lifted Alice up.
“What’s with how light you are?”
He thought she would be heavy since she ate well and seemed to have a good appetite, but he found himself biting his molars lightly.
Ryan released the grip on his molars.
As he walked to the room, all his attention was on Alice in his arms. He didn’t even remember how he made it to the room…
He felt Alice’s slender body through his right arm wrapped around her back and his other arm supporting her knees.
Ryan lowered his head to look at the sleeping Alice.
She was sleeping with a face so peaceful, without a hint of tension.
The unique scent of Alice’s lotion wafted up and tickled Ryan’s nose.
Once inside the room, Ryan slowly laid Alice down on the bed.
As he lowered her, Alice seemed uncomfortable and shifted around until she found a comfortable position, lifting the corners of her mouth.
As the large hood shifted to one side, Alice’s delicate neck line was revealed.
Ryan’s gaze froze on her white, smooth skin.
As his eyes traveled from her slender jawline to her smooth neck, his dark pupils deepened.
“She’s really drunk.”
Why couldn’t he take his eyes off her?
Yeah, she was definitely wasted.
Or maybe it was just a moment of curiosity.
Ryan shook off his wandering thoughts and decided he needed to leave quickly, but then he noticed the glasses Alice was wearing.
They looked quite uncomfortable.
Should he take them off? Or leave them on?
Why should he care whether she was comfortable or not? But his feet wouldn’t move. He carefully took off Alice’s glasses and placed them on the table beside her.
It was the first time he had seen Alice without her glasses.
In the dim room, the faint light coming through the window illuminated Alice.
Her long, thick eyelashes stretched out beautifully. Her smooth nose and slightly moving lips made him wonder…
Why did he find her so lovely?
Was it because her eyes were closed?
Is this what they call the glow of celebrities? Alice was truly basking in the window’s light.
“Umm.”
As Alice stirred, Ryan felt no need to poke her but hurriedly closed the door behind him.
He squeezed his eyes shut to shake off the illusions created by the alcohol.
Ryan thought he needed to wash his face to fully sober up and headed to the bathroom.
