Livinus abruptly stopped, his gaze chilling. “Who told you that?”
The reporter swallowed nervously. “Is it not true?”
“To my knowledge, I haven’t received any such news,” Livinus replied coldly.
With just one sentence, he outright dismissed all of Olivia’s earlier statements, leaving no room for interpretation.
The slap in the face was so public it left Olivia utterly humiliated. Her face alternated between red and white, a picture of mortification.
Clenching her fists tightly, Olivia silently cursed him.
What was he trying to do? Embarrass her? She had already moved into the Scott Family’s house—surely he couldn’t deny her that much dignity.
“But Boss Livinus, Miss Olivia is pregnant!” another reporter shouted.
Livinus smirked coldly. “The Scott Family doesn’t deny its bloodline.”
His meaning was clear: the child was acknowledged, but whether Olivia herself was included was another matter entirely.
The response was laced with intrigue.
It was as though the story came with a free side of drama, guaranteeing it would make tomorrow’s headlines.
Olivia’s habit of exaggerating had finally caught up with her. Months ago, she had already claimed she was marrying into the Scott Family, yet there had been no movement. Now pregnant, she had hoped to secure her position, frequently using the Scott Family name to her advantage. She even threatened media outlets, warning them not to publish negative stories about her or face the Scott Family’s wrath.
Her arrogance had earned her plenty of resentment from reporters, and now they eagerly planned to expose the truth in full detail.
—
One by one, reporters lowered their heads, typing up articles and uploading photos.
Meanwhile, Olivia was so furious she nearly spat blood.
The looks everyone was giving her were strange, leaving her utterly humiliated.
Sitting down on a chair, her assistant approached cautiously and whispered, “Olivia, what exactly did you do to offend Boss Livinus?”
“How would I know? He’s crazy! I’m carrying Henry’s child, yet he still refuses to give me even the slightest respect!”
The assistant paused, biting back her thoughts. In truth, Boss Livinus’s words weren’t wrong—having a child only confirmed the child’s connection to the Scott Family, not her position as their daughter-in-law.
After all, wasn’t there someone in America who had multiple children but still hadn’t married into the family?
Suddenly, the assistant seemed to recall something. “Olivia, do you think this might be because of the interviews where you used his name to gain attention?”
Olivia froze, speechless.
Because of her negative reputation, few programs were willing to interview her. Recently, after Henry’s divorce, she’d finally had her moment, basking in the limelight as the so-called “billionaire’s future wife.” In her excitement, she had mentioned Livinus in interviews, saying he was a wonderful uncle who was kind to his nephew and by extension, to her. She had described their relationship as familial and close-knit.
At the time, she hadn’t thought much of it. Given her difficult circumstances, she felt it was only right for Livinus, as Henry’s uncle, to look after her.
What harm could a little name-dropping do?
She was even helping him gain exposure! Besides, it didn’t cost him anything.
She never expected Livinus to retaliate so publicly and harshly, stripping her of all dignity. His actions were anything but gentlemanly.
“Really? He’s holding a grudge over that?” Olivia’s confidence wavered.
“Why wouldn’t he? I think he’s trying to send you a warning,” her assistant suggested.
“A warning?” Olivia frowned.
“Yes, to remind you to stay in your lane and know your place.” Noticing Olivia’s darkening expression, the assistant quickly shut her mouth.
Olivia was seething. She pulled out her phone to check Facebook, only to find multiple posts by influencers turning her predicament into a laughingstock. Her hands trembled with rage.
Just then, she came across a viral post:
“A sales associate at a real estate office shared on their Moments today that Scott Corporation’s Boss Livinus brought a beautiful and elegant woman to view properties. The two seemed very close, and Boss Livinus was protective of her the entire time. Ladies, could it be that your beloved Boss Livinus is about to get married?”
Attached was a photo. Livinus’s face was clearly recognizable, but the woman’s face was slightly blurry. Still, it was evident she was tall and had a great figure.
That silhouette…
Olivia zoomed in on the image, and upon realizing who it was, her vision nearly blacked out from anger.
It was Sophia! That woman was Sophia!
