However, his dad didn’t answer him. Instead, he covered his eyes with one hand and then leaned down to kiss those intoxicating lips.
Thelma: “…”
Little bundle: “????” Huh? Why can’t I see anything?
It didn’t last long; he gently held her lips and kissed her once, not yet greedy enough to go that far.
“Daddy, why did you cover my eyes?” the little one finally reacted.
Sam Noah removed his hand, and the little one looked at him in confusion, only to see Daddy smiling at Mommy, who was blushing and looking at him with the same bewildered expression.
This man… the child is still here, what is he doing?!
Thelma’s face was flushed, and the unexpected kiss had stirred her heart into chaos.
Mr. Sam, who had just done something naughty, was the calmest among the three. He half-closed his fist by his lips and cleared his throat, saying, “Let’s go, it’s time for dinner.” Then, he naturally took his wife’s hand with one hand and held the child’s hand with the other, leading his whole world back to their home.
The events of the day had left Thelma exhausted, so that night she behaved herself and didn’t try to seduce her male god, Mr. Sam. The two of them embraced and fell asleep as usual.
The next day at noon, Thelma received a call from her sister in the studio. Samantha told her that Chris had sent something over and asked her to come take a look.
Not knowing what Chris was up to this time, Thelma temporarily set aside her work and went to the Peace Hotel.
What Chris sent was a package of documents that her sister hadn’t opened yet, waiting for her to come and do it. Thelma opened the package and found a stack of checks inside, which Chris had sent for the two sisters.
Thelma and Samantha exchanged glances, both puzzled as to why Chris suddenly wanted to give them money.
“Just yesterday we kicked him out, and today he sends us money. What is he up to now?”
Samantha shook her head, “Who knows? If you don’t want it, just send it back to him.”
Thelma put the checks back, “Who needs his money? Let’s send it back.”
Thelma had taken time off work to come here, and was just about to leave when a waiter rushed over and said, “Boss, something happened downstairs.”
Thelma thought it was another drunken customer causing trouble and irritably asked, “Which table is causing problems again?”
The waiter replied, “It’s not a customer; someone brought a bulldozer and said they want to demolish our restaurant.”
Hearing this, both Thelma and Samantha were dumbfounded. Thelma asked, “Is this place being developed?”
Samantha looked equally confused, “We didn’t receive any notice.”
The two sisters didn’t dare delay and hurried downstairs to check. Sure enough, they saw a crowd gathered on the street below. This was the old street of North City, with the newly developed street on the far right, lined with tall buildings. This street was a small road on the side of the main road, still retaining the old North City charm, with low-rise buildings, and the Peace Hotel was right at the intersection of the two roads.
Thelma saw a few people standing next to the bulldozer, wearing hard hats and pointing at blueprints. She recognized one of them as Adaline.
Samantha stepped out and asked the group, “What’s going on? Why are you demolishing this place?”
Adaline raised an eyebrow and looked at her, smiling slightly, “This area has already been purchased by us. I plan to develop it into a residential community.”
Samantha replied, “The neighborhood committee hasn’t informed us about this. You can’t just say you’re demolishing it!”
Adaline looked at her as if it were obvious, “I’ve already bought it; why can’t I just say I’m demolishing it?”
“ Adaline, purchasing land requires government approval, and the government hasn’t explained the situation to us yet. You’re bringing people to demolish houses before the compensation issue is resolved. Isn’t that a bit overbearing?”
This was said by Thelma.
Adaline looked at Thelma with a meaningful glance and smiled, “When I first met Mrs. Sam, I was wondering how someone could be so sharp-tongued and speak so boldly. I only recently learned that Mrs. Sam has Mr. Sam backing her. However, even if Mr. Sam were here today, I would still demolish what needs to be demolished. The government hasn’t approved it yet, but that’s just a matter of time. I’ve already bought this place, and I plan to start by demolishing this one house. I doubt the government will hold me accountable for just one.”
As soon as Adaline finished speaking, a man hurriedly stepped forward and said in a deep voice, “Adaline, what do you think you’re doing?”
