After Chris and the others left, Thelma felt utterly exhausted for a moment. She turned to Samantha and asked, “Is there any food?”
“I’m in a restaurant, how could there be no food? I can even fry you a couple of small dishes.”
The small dishes were ready in no time; the chef’s skills were impressive. After a few bites, Thelma felt much more energized.
“When I was young, I really envied a girl in my class. Whenever it rained, her dad would come to pick her up, bringing her an umbrella, a raincoat, and rain boots. But after putting them on, he wouldn’t let her get them dirty and would carry her home. But my dad was always busy, coming home late and leaving early, busy running around gathering materials. At that time, I understood it wasn’t easy for him. Later, life finally got better, and my dad had time. I thought I could finally have my dad accompany me like other kids, but he ran off with another woman, having no time for his own daughter but having time to meet with another woman. That’s our dad.”
By the time Samantha learned about Chris’s infidelity, she was already a teenager and had long understood things. Therefore, she didn’t rely on her father as much. After the divorce, she didn’t live with him, so the concept of paternal love was foreign and cold to her. She had grown accustomed to it and didn’t feel the need for it, so she didn’t have the same feelings as Thelma.
“It’s all in the past. Now you have Noah and Tyler. Just focus on living your own life well.”
Thelma thought about it and realized she still had Noah and Tyler. Thankfully, they had appeared in her life.
Thelma stayed at her sister’s place until the afternoon before heading back. When she returned, Sam Noah wasn’t in the room, but she noticed the door to the little one’s room was open, and he wasn’t inside. Thelma searched upstairs and downstairs but didn’t see the father and son. At this time, they should have been back; she wondered where they had gone.
Thelma went to the backyard, where there was an abandoned warehouse on the right side. Sam Noah had turned it into a gym. As she walked over, she heard sounds coming from inside before she even got close. She reached the door and saw that the father and son were indeed inside. The older one was doing bench presses, while the younger one, dressed in a mini version of a sports outfit, was doing frog jumps, his little hands clasped behind his head, jumping with an “ouch” sound each time, which was simply adorable.
At that moment, the sun was setting, and warm orange light streamed in, casting the father and son in a picturesque glow.
Thelma thought this scene was so warm and harmonious, filling her heart with joy. Yet, it was also so peaceful that all the unpleasantness she had experienced during the day vanished in an instant. Everything before her was so beautiful that she felt reluctant to disturb it.
The little one was doing frog jumps close to the door, and he spotted Thelma standing there first. Every time he saw his mom, he was always happy, running over with his little legs. Thelma squatted down to welcome him into her arms, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
Sam Noah also stopped his workout and walked over. Seeing her chatting with the little one after wiping his sweat, he didn’t interrupt them. Sam Noah cleared his throat and said casually, “You only wipe the little one’s sweat and not the big one’s?”
Thelma: “…”
His tone sounded somewhat resentful, like a kindergarten child feeling wronged because the teacher didn’t distribute the candy evenly. Mr. Sam actually had such a childish side.
Thelma looked at him. He was bare-chested, just having worked out, his muscles bulging, exuding a sense of wildness and strength.
Why was he not wearing a shirt again? Thelma didn’t dare to look at him.
But since he had said that, Thelma couldn’t ignore him. She stepped forward to wipe his sweat, starting with his forehead, then his cheeks, and finally his neck.
They were very close, and his warm breath brushed against her face. Even though they had already cuddled and slept together, the moment she got close to him, that tension returned, and Thelma didn’t dare to look at him.
His heavy breathing after exercising echoed above her head. He was really manly and very sexy. Thelma’s heart began to race, and her mind started to wander.
Sam Noah found it strange that she didn’t look at him even while wiping his sweat. Was there something on his face that she couldn’t bear to see?
But her shy demeanor was incredibly charming. He gazed at her face, becoming somewhat entranced, and slowly, his gaze locked onto her lips, soft lips that he had once tasted.
So intoxicating, so alluring.
However, he hadn’t completely lost his rationality yet; that annoying little bundle was still nearby.
“Tyler, come here.”
Tyler obediently walked over when he heard his dad’s call. “What is it, Dad?” he asked in a soft, tender voice.
