Susan’s mouth twitched. She knew exactly what Thelma meant. Back when she and Chris were together, it was a scandal. Although many years had passed and she had secured her position as Mrs. Chris, the past still existed, and she hoped it would remain buried forever.
Susan’s authoritative demeanor as an elder suddenly weakened, and she forced a smile, “I’m just trying to advise you.”
Chris added, “Your step mom means well. Why don’t you understand?”
Susan sighed at the right moment, putting on an expression of being misunderstood for her good intentions.
Thelma had intended to say more, but she felt it was unnecessary. After all, they had already severed ties, and saying too much to them was a waste of time and meaningless. Just as she was about to leave with Mira and Phoenix, she suddenly noticed a commotion at the entrance. Looking over, she saw a tall, handsome man in a well-tailored black suit walking toward her amidst a crowd of murmurs and gasps.
He wore a black suit and shirt, custom-made to fit his physique perfectly. The moment he appeared, he instantly attracted the attention of many present. There were many successful men, but few were both successful and handsome. A man like him could be considered exceptional; it was hard not to notice him.
Thelma watched him approach. Although she was all too familiar with this person—she had hugged him, kissed him, and fallen asleep in his arms—seeing him walk toward her still made her heart race with every step he took closer.
He walked over, politely responding to others’ greetings along the way. When he reached her, it seemed for that brief moment that everyone else had vanished. He looked at her, the corners of his mouth curving into a beautiful arc, softly calling her, “Thelma.”
Unlike the politeness he showed when dealing with others, his tone was affectionate and gentle, not hiding the fact that she was different in his eyes.
Thelma felt her cheeks heat up uncontrollably, that familiar feeling of nervousness in front of him returning. However, she was afraid of making a fool of herself, so she forced herself to maintain eye contact and asked, “What are you doing here? You didn’t mention you were coming before.”
Sam Noah replied, “I hadn’t thought about coming before, so I didn’t tell you. I decided to come at the last minute.”
Originally, he didn’t want to waste time attending such a small event, but he had inadvertently heard that Chris would also be there. He was afraid he might say something inappropriate, so he decided to show up.
Chris and Susan came back to their senses and clearly noticed the familiarity between Thelma and Sam Noah. Chris then asked, “Thelma, do you know Mr. Sam?”
It seemed that Sam Noah was indeed quite famous, even Chris recognized him.
When Thelma married Sam Noah, she had already cut off contact with Chris, so she hadn’t told him. It was likely that her sister hadn’t mentioned it to him either, so they were unaware that Thelma was already married, and to Sam Noah no less.
However, Thelma had no intention of telling him.
Thelma nodded, “I know him.”
Ava lowered her head to hide her smirk, thinking to herself, of course she knows Sam Noah, he’s her lover. She had been worried that Sam Noah wouldn’t show up, but now it seemed like there would be a good show to watch.
Ava raised her head and smiled, “What a coincidence! My big sponsor, Mr. Jonathan, also knows Mrs. Sam. He invited her over today, and Mr. Sam, since you and Mrs. Sam haven’t seen each other for a long time, it’s a perfect opportunity to ease your longing.”
Listening to Ava’s words, Thelma felt confused. The Mr. Jonathan she mentioned couldn’t possibly be Adaline from the Group, could it? But she wasn’t familiar with Adaline, and Jonathan Foxcroft sent the invitation she received. Moreover, neither Adaline nor Ava knew that she was Mrs. Sam, so who was that Mrs. Sam they were talking about?

Ava instinctively shivered under his intense gaze. She glanced over and saw Adaline and “Mrs. Sam” walking towards them, quickly pointing, “Look, they’re coming over.”
Everyone turned to follow her finger and indeed saw Adaline and a tall, beautiful girl chatting as they approached.
Thelma immediately recognized who they referred to as Mrs. Sam. Her expression darkened; it was truly a case of running into Norah no matter where she went.
