The Love She Never Saw Coming – Chapter 90

Shower

He sat on the edge of the bed, gazing at the outside world, a quiet and lonely world, yet he felt not a hint of desolation.

Because behind him, she was lying there; she was in his world.

Thelma woke up to find Sam Noah was not in bed. She searched the room but found no one. After getting dressed, she planned to go out and look for him, but unexpectedly, she ran into Norah at the corner of the elevator.

Norah had tried to cause her trouble several times, and with no one else around, Thelma couldn’t be bothered to be polite. Just as she was about to pretend she didn’t see her and leave, Norah spoke first, “Are you going to find Sam Noah this early?”

“Yes.” Thelma replied indifferently, pressing the elevator button.

“I wonder if Sam Noah has told you about our engagement.”

Thelma looked at her, meeting Norah’s smug expression. “From the look on your face, it seems Sam Noah hasn’t told you. That’s fine; if he doesn’t tell you, I will.” She stepped closer, leaning in to whisper in her ear with gritted teeth, “If it weren’t for you meddling, Sam Noah and I would have been married long ago. You’re just a third party ruining someone else’s relationship.”

Thelma clenched the hem of her clothes tightly at her sides, but she wasn’t foolish enough to lose her head over provocation.

“With something this big, Noah wouldn’t keep it from me. If he didn’t tell me, it only proves that he doesn’t think it’s worth mentioning. Also, Noah was already twenty-six when we got married, well past the legal marriage age. According to what you said, if it weren’t for me, you would have been married long ago. Why didn’t you get married at twenty-six? Why did it take me?”

Norah was not only unable to provoke her but was also momentarily silenced. Her expression darkened as she looked Thelma up and down, muttering, “Believe it or not,” before huffing and turning to leave.

When the elevator doors opened, Thelma lost her motivation to find Sam Noah.

She returned to her room, and not long after, Sam Noah pushed the door open and walked in. He had gone downstairs to run, wearing a t-shirt and shorts, looking a bit disheveled from sweat, with a ring of dampness around the collar of his white t-shirt. When he saw Thelma standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, a smile involuntarily crept onto his lips, “I ordered breakfast; hasn’t it arrived yet?”

Thelma didn’t speak. She quietly watched this man, her idol whom she had just kissed last night. Thinking of Norah’s words earlier made her feel uncomfortable.

Sam Noah noticed her unusual demeanor and walked over to ask, “What’s wrong?”

As he approached, his scent enveloped her, a strong masculine aroma that could make many women swoon. But he was her husband; his charm belonged only to her.

She bit her lip and decided to confront him directly, “I just ran into Norah. She told me you have an engagement with her.”

She knew Norah was deliberately provoking her, but she wasn’t sure if they really had an engagement, so Sam Noah, please deny it.

However, she didn’t expect Sam Noah to nod after a brief silence.

Thelma felt her heart sink to the bottom.

“But that was the wish of our elders; it has nothing to do with me.”

In other words, that engagement was merely a formality, and he had no feelings for Norah? But even if it was just a formality, it was still a crucial one. Thelma cautiously asked, “Am I the third party?”

Sam Noah’s brow furrowed, “Did Norah say you were the third party?”

“Mm.”

After a moment of silence, Sam Noah said, “You are not the third party. Before I married you, my engagement with her was already canceled. Moreover…” He spoke firmly, “I won’t let you and the child be criticized.”

With his answer, Thelma finally felt relieved, and when he said this, she sensed a man’s sense of responsibility towards her and the child. She felt that such a man was both manly and sweet.

“Do you have any more questions?”

Suppressing a smile, Thelma shook her head, “No, go take a shower.”
