The Love She Never Saw Coming – Chapter 80

Pulling

Once the door was closed, it was just her and Sam Noah left in the room. Thelma felt a bit awkward, while Sam Noah remained calm. “It’s getting late; let’s rest. The little one has his birthday today; we can just pretend to fulfill his wish.”

So it was just a pretense, Thelma understood. Although she had agreed to Tyler with the intention of appeasing him, she had also harbored some expectations, only to find that Mr. Sam didn’t care at all.

Thelma felt a bit disappointed.

Lying on the bed with Sam Noah, they each took their side, still keeping a little distance from each other.

He was actually her online friend; they had known each other for so long, but were they really in an online romance that turned real? An online romance should at least start with some feelings, right?

In her memory, they were just ordinary online friends, though perhaps a bit closer than ordinary friends. After all, at the beginning, she often clung to him in conversation, feeling sad when she thought he was dying. Did something change after her amnesia?

But before her amnesia, she had never even met him in person.

Actually, there was one opportunity for them to meet. It was the day after he fell seriously ill; she bought a train ticket and traveled for several days to see him. Young and sensitive, she thought he was so pitiful, without a wife or children, perhaps dying alone without anyone by his side.

So she specially prepared a small gift to see him. She wanted to tell him he wasn’t alone, that he still had friends by his side, and she wanted to encourage him to get better soon. But when she arrived in his city, he refused to see her. She wandered the unfamiliar streets for a long time, and only after confirming he really didn’t want to see her did she take a bus back.

As she grew older and recalled this incident, she felt so foolish.

Was there really love? But she always felt he was deliberately keeping his distance from her.

Thinking about these chaotic questions, Thelma found it hard to fall asleep for a long time. Soon, she heard his steady breathing; he must have already fallen asleep.

How could he be so calm lying next to her, falling asleep so quickly, while she was tormented by all these messy thoughts? He probably didn’t have any feelings for her, right?

Was his kindness towards her just because she gave him Tyler?

Dennis said she was his first love; perhaps he misunderstood.

Thelma felt confused. They hadn’t even had anything yet, and she was already feeling anxious.

She didn’t know why, but she felt this man was high and distant, yet he had a damn charm that attracted her closer, just like now.

She wanted to be a little closer to him, to lean against him.

Anyway, he was asleep; it should be fine, right?

She cautiously inched closer to him, then moved a little more, getting very close, just a little bit away from touching him. Even though he was asleep, she still felt nervous, her heart racing.

She looked at his face, a handsome face. She remembered she had once kissed him quickly on the cheek, but she hadn’t really felt the sensation of his skin.

She wanted to touch him; this shameless thought jumped into her mind again.

Just a touch; he was her husband, so it should be fine, right? Besides, he was asleep and wouldn’t know.

With that thought, she gathered her courage, but she was so nervous. When her fingers brushed against his cheek, they immediately recoiled. After several attempts, she finally managed to place her palm against his cheek.

His face was firm, the texture a bit rougher than her own, but that distinct contour felt completely different from her softness.

This feeling was exhilarating, like pulling hair from a tiger’s mouth—nervous and scared yet inexplicably excited.

Thelma thought she was really perverted.

She greedily lingered on his face for a long time, and finally, realizing she was being too lewd, she thought to pull her hand back.

However, just as her hand moved away, the man with his eyes closed suddenly opened them, his dark, bright eyes fixed on her, and he firmly grasped the hand that was about to retract.

Thelma: “……”

Thelma felt as if she had been struck by lightning, caught red-handed in a bad deed, or like pulling hair from a tiger when it suddenly woke up.

The night before, Thelma had been chatting excitedly with her best friend about an upcoming singing competition. But when she opened her eyes the next morning, she was five years into the future! To her utter disbelief, she was now married to a powerful, domineering CEO she had never met—and they even had a child together?! What kind of absurd twist was this?! Apparently, her “future self” didn’t care much for her husband or their child and had been plotting a divorce. But as Thelma adjusted to her new reality, the sight of the adorable little dumpling of a child begging for her love and the cautious yet devoted CEO husband—who spoiled her but kept a respectful distance—began to melt her heart. “Fine, fine, I’ll accept it!” she thought. At first, Thelma resolved to be the best mother she could be, determined to care for her child. But over time, something else changed. Her husband, with his striking good looks, wealth, and unwavering affection, proved impossible to resist. Before long, Thelma found herself drawn to him, wanting nothing more than to snuggle into his arms and stay there forever. Sam Noah had always believed love was beyond his reach. No matter how much he gave, his wife remained cold and distant, barely sparing him a glance. Even after their marriage, her indifference was a constant ache in his heart. But then, everything changed. When she woke up with no memory of him, she was... different. She smiled at him, reached for him, and even acted adorably clingy at times. She had become so sweet, so warm—how could he possibly resist falling deeper in love? What began as an absurd twist of fate turned into a beautifully heartwarming journey of rediscovery, love, and second chances.
