The Love She Never Saw Coming – Chapter 67

Habit

After parting with her sister, Thelma went straight home, not expecting to find Sam Noah already there.

Sam Noah was sitting in the living room, holding a cup of coffee, savoring it while organizing the documents on the coffee table. When he heard the door open, he looked up and smiled at her, saying, “Come here; I have something for you.”

Thelma walked over and sat down across from him. He pushed some documents and a key toward her, saying, “The glass in the studio has been repaired. Here are the registration documents and the key. This card has your startup funds; I’ve put in five million. If that’s not enough, I’ll add more.”

Thelma: “…”

He rushed back from his hometown just to help her with the studio? Thelma suddenly felt like she had become a helpless baby, and Sam Noah was the one professionally taking care of her, bringing food to her mouth.

Thelma lowered her head, feeling ashamed. He took such good care of her, yet she had such shameful thoughts about him.

“Thank you.”

“How are you going to thank me?”

“…”

“Are you going to invite me to dinner again?”

Thelma thought for a moment, “How about I cook instead? I can cook. It would be a good chance to give Auntie a day off.”

“Are you sure?”

Thelma nodded.

He had given her a studio, and she didn’t know how to repay him, so she decided to cook a meal for him.

There weren’t many ingredients at home, so Thelma planned to buy some nearby. She changed her clothes and came downstairs, where Sam Noah was still drinking coffee. Seeing her come down, he said, “Let’s go.”

Thelma was surprised, “Are you going too?”

“Yeah.” He didn’t even look up, just replied casually.

The two of them went to the nearby supermarket together. Sam Noah took a small cart, and as they walked through the supermarket, Thelma still felt it was unbelievable, a strange sense of unreality washing over her.

This man, so distant and unattainable, stood in the supermarket in his suit, giving off a sense of being out of place. Yet, as he pushed the cart so comfortably, it felt as if a layer of reality enveloped him, making him seem more tangible.

She couldn’t understand why he wanted to come grocery shopping with her; surely he had a lot of work at his company?

But walking with Sam Noah in the supermarket, Thelma felt a sense of beauty in the moment.

Not knowing what he liked to eat, she asked, “Do you have any favorite dishes?”

Sam Noah replied, “I’m not that picky about food; I don’t have to eat what I like. Whatever you cook, I’ll eat.”

Thelma: “…”

She looked up at him. Sam Noah was much taller than her, and at that moment, he was slightly bowing his head to look at her, his lips gently pressed together. She felt as if he was smiling at her.

Thelma felt a sudden warmth, quickly turning her head away.

After buying the groceries, Sam Noah pushed the cart to the snack aisle, grabbing a bag of chips, a bag of sunflower seeds, and a few boxes of yogurt. Thelma asked, “Is this for Tyler?”

“I have strict rules about the snacks Tyler can eat before he loses his baby teeth,” Sam Noah replied casually, tossing in a bag of chocolate, “This is for you.”

Thelma: “…”

Thelma had a sweet tooth and indeed had a habit of snacking.

At that moment, next to the shelf they were at, an employee was standing on a ladder, placing items on the upper shelf. Just as Thelma was lost in thought, the items in the supermarket worker’s hands slipped, heading straight for her head. Sam Noah reacted quickly, grabbing her arm and pulling her, causing Thelma to unexpectedly crash into him.

His body was solid and resilient. When she bumped into him, a faint, pleasant fragrance wafted over, making Thelma feel breathless. She instinctively looked up, and he was also looking down at her.

They were very close, close enough for her to hear his breathing and the uncertain murmurs coming from his lips.

He was calling her.

Uncertainly, in an intimate tone, he said, “Thelma…”

At this distance, she could clearly see his Adam’s apple gently moving, which was very attractive.

The bright lights above in the supermarket seemed to cast a halo around his face, outlining his sharp features, which looked truly handsome.

Thelma had always fantasized about being in his arms, and she never expected that wish to be so unexpectedly fulfilled.
