The Love She Never Saw Coming – Chapter 41

Belittling

Davis understood immediately, “You won’t miss out on any benefits.”

“But I’m not a child anymore; simple snacks won’t satisfy me.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re satisfied.”

How refreshing; Thelma was quite pleased.

At this time, her sister should be in the office on the second floor. When Thelma entered, Samantha was indeed inside, reviewing the quarterly business situation.

Samantha was very happy to see her, “Why are you back?” She walked over, looked her up and down, and smiled, “You’ve gained weight; it seems you’re doing well over there. Noah treats you well, right?”

Mentioning Sam Noah made Thelma’s face flush. Not wanting to give her sister a chance to tease her, she hurriedly said, “I ran into Davis downstairs; he wants to see you.”

Upon hearing Davis’s name, Samantha’s expression changed.

“Let him go; I don’t want to see him.”

Thelma was puzzled, “Why?”

Thelma didn’t really understand her sister’s romantic life. Her sister was three years older than her, and when she was dating, Thelma was still a little girl in middle school, not fully grasping the concept of love.

After their parents divorced, she followed her father and saw her sister less often. She only heard that her sister broke up with Davis in college, and it seemed she hadn’t dated anyone since.

Now her sister was 28, and her love life had been stagnant. If she could reconcile with Davis, that would be great. Thelma was quite satisfied with Davis as a potential brother-in-law.

After a moment of silence, Samantha said, “He’s already married.”

Thelma: “…”

Thelma had thought her sister didn’t want to see Davis because of some misunderstanding from back then, but she didn’t expect that he was already married.

Thelma felt a surge of anger. When she went downstairs, Davis was still waiting there, but this time he had a bag in his hand. Seeing that Samantha hadn’t followed her, his expression looked a bit disappointed.

“It seems you couldn’t get your sister to come out, but this gift is still for you.”

He handed over the bag, which contained some high-end skincare products. He really understood girls, knowing what kind of products to use to please them at this age.

Thelma pushed his hand away, sneering, “There are so many idiots in the world; you’re not special! Why come looking for my sister when you’re already married? Do you want to force her to be a mistress?”

Davis’s smile slowly froze, and after a long time, he let out a bitter laugh, “I had no choice; my marriage with my wife is one of convenience, without any feelings.”

Thelma didn’t want to listen to his complaints. What is “no choice”? Once you’re married, you’re married. She had just thought this person might be a decent brother-in-law, but now she felt disgusted!

“What ‘no choice’? I don’t want to hear that. Since you’re married, stay away from my sister, got it?!”

Davis didn’t say anything. Thelma didn’t want to waste more words with him and left after saying that.

“I’m so mad!”

Thelma went upstairs still fuming. Samantha, however, remained calm and poured her a glass of water, “What’s there to be angry about? Everyone has their own fate.”

Fortunately, her sister was quite open-minded, which comforted Thelma.

Thinking of the purpose of her visit, Thelma didn’t want to talk about Davis anymore and said to her sister, “By the way, I ran into Ava today.”

“Hmm?” Samantha paused in her drinking, clearly wary of Ava, “What happened when you saw her?”

“She said some strange things to me, like I would even go for sleazy old men.” She fixed her gaze on Samantha, cautiously asking, “I didn’t do anything to sell my body in the past, did I?”

Unexpectedly, Samantha snapped, “There’s no such thing! She and her mother are cut from the same cloth; what good words can such people say?! She’s just jealous of how well you’re doing and is deliberately belittling you. Don’t listen to her nonsense.”

Only then did Thelma breathe a sigh of relief.
