“She has already left.”
Thelma nodded, feeling relieved.
“I think I wasn’t very polite to your mother before. I don’t know what happened, but if I was rude in any way, I’m very sorry.”
However, upon hearing this, Sam Noah said without thinking, “You wouldn’t be rude to someone for no reason; there’s no need to feel sorry.”
Thelma: “…”
No matter what conflicts she had with Ruth in the past, Ruth was still an elder. Calling an elder “old lady” as a junior was indeed a bit excessive, especially since this elder was his own mother.
Sam Noah’s words were clearly biased in her favor.
In fact, she had many questions about why he treated her so well, even standing by her side during her conflict with his mother. But why did he treat her so well while she still disliked him?
Many questions, but strangely, she didn’t seem to want to explore why this was the case. She even subconsciously rejected knowing what had happened in the past five years.
Sam Noah continued, “I have to go back to the company for a bit.”
Thelma came back to her senses, recalling what she had just heard. She didn’t ask more and simply said, “Okay, you go ahead.”
In the afternoon, when the time came, the father and son still hadn’t returned. Thelma thought that if there were problems at the winery, Sam Noah might be too busy to come back, and he might be in a meeting and unable to pick up the little one.
Thelma called Sam Noah, and he quickly answered.
“Thelma?” His voice was magnetic, with a hint of uncertainty.
His voice had a mature man’s charm, and when she wasn’t face to face with him, the characteristics of his voice became even more pronounced.
Thelma suppressed her nervousness and said, “Are you still busy?”
“I’m in a meeting.”
Thelma hurriedly said, “Sorry to disturb you; you continue with your meeting.”
“What’s up?”
“Nothing much, I just wanted to pick up Tyler.”
“The car keys are in the storage cabinet in my room. You can take whichever car you want, or I can have my assistant pick up Tyler.”
“I’ll go pick him up myself.”
He was probably really busy and didn’t say anything more. Thelma hung up the phone and went to his room. She quickly found the car keys, neatly arranged in the drawer. Thelma wasn’t very familiar with cars, but there were common luxury cars like Mercedes and BMW. She tried to avoid those and picked a car key that looked less conspicuous.
When she got to the garage, she realized the car was a bit large, but it was fine; she could drive it.
Thelma first went to pick up the little one. After the little one got in the car, he asked her, “Is Dad still at work?”
“Not yet.”
“Then let’s go pick up Dad! Mom and I will go pick up Dad; he will be very happy.”
“…”
Sam Group was easy to find; Thelma just followed the navigation.
However, there was some traffic on the way. With the congestion like this, Sam Noah might have already left by the time they arrived. Thelma grew up in Brackenfield, so she was somewhat familiar with it. She remembered there was a small road nearby that could help avoid the congested areas.
This small road was a bit narrow, with residential buildings on both sides. Thelma drove very carefully, but she still didn’t notice and scratched the rearview mirror on the other side.
Thelma got out to check; the scratch was quite obvious, and she panicked. “What should I do?” It was already too late to get it repainted, and she didn’t know if Sam Noah would be angry that she had damaged his car.
“This car shouldn’t be very valuable, right?”
“EHHHHH…”
Seeing the little one hesitating to speak, Thelma couldn’t help but worry, “Is it very expensive?”
“I don’t know if it’s expensive, but Dad seems to really like this car. Last time, when Uncle Dennis drove this car and accidentally broke the wiper, Dad beat him up.”
“….” Thelma swallowed hard and asked, “Who is Uncle Dennis?”
“Dad’s comrade! Dad was a soldier before going to college. He’s really good at shooting; he can show you one day, Mom.”
Do comrades get beaten up like that? Thelma looked at the scratch, feeling a bit of a headache.
“What should we do?”
