As they spoke, they had already walked to the car. Sam Noah, who had been walking beside them without saying a word, helped Thelma open the car door. Thelma then sat down with her little treasure in the backseat.
Once in the car, Tyler asked, “Has Mom moved into the house?”
“Yeah.”
“Will Mom not leave anymore?”
“Right.”
The little guy was extremely happy. Once he was happy, he opened his mouth and started talking about everything that happened in kindergarten, about his good friend Jaylen, about how there were often stray cats looking for food next to their kindergarten, and how he would always save bread to feed them, and so much more.
This little guy really loved to talk, and when he got excited, his eyes would light up, making him incredibly adorable. Thelma thought his face was tender, his little hands were tender, his small body was tender, and even his smile was tender.
The more she looked, the cuter he seemed, and her heart couldn’t help but repeatedly marvel in disbelief that he was her son, he was actually her son, she had such a cute son.
The more she thought about it, the more excited she became, almost unable to contain herself.
Just as Thelma was lost in admiration for her son’s cute face, she inadvertently turned her head and saw Sam Noah in the rearview mirror. He had slightly raised his gaze and was looking at her.
He had a slight smile on his lips, and she couldn’t tell if it was her imagination, but she felt there was a hint of indulgence in his gaze.
However, just a simple glance, when she looked again, she found his expression had returned to normal, skillfully steering the wheel.
The family of three returned home, with Sam Noah walking ahead to open the door for the mother and son, while Thelma and Tyler walked hand in hand behind him.
When the door opened, Thelma didn’t expect there to be guests at home. The visitor was wearing a short-sleeved shirt with a ruffled collar and a fitted skirt, a typical outfit for a young professional woman.
At that moment, she was standing by the dining table, skillfully and naturally setting the dishes. Hearing the door open, she turned her head and smiled at Sam Noah, “Brother Noah, you went to pick up Tyler, right?”
She looked very gentle, giving off a friendly vibe like a neighbor’s little sister, and her voice carried a softness typical of southern women, making her sound delicate.
“What brings you here?” Sam Noah asked.
“I went back to my hometown a few days ago. The cherries in the orchard are ripe, and the old lady asked me to bring a box for you to eat. I’ve already had Mrs Smith put them in the fridge. Since Mrs Smith has made dinner, I just came to help a bit.” The girl set the dishes and walked over, only then noticing Thelma following Sam Noah, and then she saw Tyler holding Thelma’s hand.
The girl was momentarily stunned, and as if recalling something, she said, “Thelma? I heard Brother Noah say you lost your memory. Is everything alright?”
This girl actually knew her? But she had no impression of her at all. Moreover, she had learned about her amnesia from Sam Noah, which indicated that she had a good relationship with him.
Sam Noah introduced her, “This is Josie. Her grandfather and father are both old employees at my family’s factory. Josie’s brother and I grew up together as good friends, so I’m familiar with Josie. She occasionally comes over to help out.”
Thelma nodded and politely replied, “It’s nothing serious, thank you for your concern.”
Josie observed her expression. Her response was very natural, and the unfamiliarity in her demeanor didn’t seem to be feigned; it genuinely looked like she had lost her memory.
Josie didn’t ask further, smiling, “So you went to pick up Tyler with Brother Noah?”
Thelma rubbed her baby’s head and smiled at her, “Yeah.”
Josie said, “That’s quite rare.” It was hard to tell if her words were a compliment or sarcasm, but she was still smiling. After saying that, she squatted down in front of Tyler and said, “Tyler, how about Auntie takes you to the amusement park in a few days?”
Tyler turned to look at Thelma and said, “I want to go with Mom.” He looked at Thelma with eager eyes, filled with a cautious expectation, “Mom will take me, right?”
Looking at his earnest little eyes, Thelma’s voice softened involuntarily, “Of course, Mom will take you.”
Upon receiving the affirmative answer, the little guy’s eyes lit up, and he quickly added, “Then it’s settled. Mom, don’t go back on your word.”
Thelma said, “Of course, I won’t go back on my word.”
