Inseparable – Chapter 37

Doctor

“I’m shaking,” I said.

Arlo panicked, not knowing what to do. “Turn off the AC,” I ordered.

He followed my instructions, opened the drawer, and took out thick socks, which he put on my feet. Then he grabbed a thick blanket from the cabinet and hurriedly covered me with it.

“I’ll be back, babe,” he said and ran downstairs.

Moments later, I saw him return with a glass of water. He sat beside me and gave me some medicine to take.

After helping me drink the water and medicine, he wiped my lips with his finger, which was slightly wet.

“Thank you,” I said, expressing my gratitude.

He kissed my forehead. Then he stood up and placed the glass on the table while glancing at me. I noticed him dialing a number on his phone.

“Doctor, where are you?” I heard him ask over the line while looking at me.

Their conversation on the phone didn’t last long. Arlo came back to me and placed his hand on my forehead.

“Your fever has gone down. The doctor is on his way, but he’s delayed because of the heavy rain outside,” Arlo told me.

“Is it still raining now? What time is it?” I asked.

“It’s only 4 a.m.,” he replied. I nodded and closed my tired eyes.

My body was so exhausted that I unknowingly drifted off to sleep. I only woke up when I heard two men talking inside the room.

“Ms. Lily is just adjusting, Arlo. Next time, don’t rush her. It’s normal for women, especially when it’s their first time, and their bodies can’t handle it, especially if their partner’s ‘d**k’ is large,” the doctor said to Arlo. My body grew hotter with embarrassment as I heard their conversation.

“Are you saying, Doctor, that it’s because of my size that Lily got sick?” Arlo asked the doctor.

The doctor nodded at Arlo, and I could see him laughing softly, seemingly pleased with what the doctor said.

“One  thousand dollars, Arlo Bonde. You woke me up and made me travel here in the heavy rain. And you’re the reason your girlfriend has a fever!” the doctor said authoritatively to Arlo.

“No problem, Doc,” Arlo replied.

“As I advised, Arlo, remember there’s always tomorrow.”

“Yes, Doctor. So, this means my ‘d**k’ really is big.”

“Whatever, Arlo. Just make sure to buy all the prescribed medicines tomorrow, and don’t tire your girlfriend out for now.”

“I can’t promise, Doctor,” Arlo replied as the doctor eventually excused himself and left.

After the doctor left, Arlo cheerfully sat beside me. I pretended to be asleep, feeling shy after hearing what they talked about.

“I’m sorry, Lily, if it’s because of my ‘d**k’ that you’re sick now. Next time, you won’t get a fever once you get used to it,” he said to me, thinking I couldn’t hear him.

“You will never have a next time, Arlo, because you might kill me,” I thought to myself.

The next day, I woke up, and Arlo wasn’t beside me. I got up, even though I struggled to stand. I forced myself to move, feeling like a cripple as I walked, wearing Arlo’s t-shirt and boxers.

“Arlo,” I called out to him. With no response, I stepped out of his room. When I got outside, I saw him coming towards me carrying a plastic bag with “Mercury Drugstore” written on it.

“Lily, why did you get up? Your body isn’t ready yet,” he said as he suddenly lifted me. My eyes widened in surprise.

“I’m fine, Arlo. I just want to rest in my own bed. I’m not comfortable on your waterbed,” I said.

“I’ll replace it with a regular bed later. That way, you’ll be comfortable next time,” he replied.

“There will be no next time, Arlo.”

“Babe,” he said, quickly kissing me on the lips.

“Put me down, Arlo. I can handle myself.”

“Lily, I saw you struggling to walk. I’m sorry, babe, that it’s my fault you have a fever. Look at me.”

“I’m still sleepy and tired, Arlo. I just want to sleep again.”

“We’ll talk later, Lily, about what happened last night. Don’t think I’ll ignore it because I’m ready to take responsibility for it.”

“We’ll just talk later,” I said.
