Against the Alpha’s Claim – Chapter 128

Such sensation

Bella forcefully closed the door to Luna’s office, striking it with great intensity, and took pleasure in its rattling within the frame. Luke had become exceedingly arrogant, a trait she could not remember him possessing previously. It seems that he consistently insisted on having his own way. She felt strongly inclined to leave this office, exit the pack-house, and board the first aircraft to L.A. to personally finalise her human world profile.

She roamed the office that now belonged to her, frowning at everything, desiring to throw nearly all the items onto the floor and kick them around. Half an hour later, she remained in the centre of the room, still reluctant to pick up the phone and comply with his request. Why should she? Merely because he was her mate and the Alpha.

She only desired to return to Los Angeles. and execute it independently. Her arrival here was not a matter of choice; she was hauled here. Indeed, she comprehended the rationale now, but remained exceedingly irate over it. Regarding its origin. She recognised that the sole obstacle preventing her from immediately leaving the pack house and distancing herself from his arrogance was the fact that she was snowed in. Tyler opposed it and disapproved of his authoritative demeanour, possibly enabling her at this point to demonstrate that they would not passively acquiesce to his commands.

It started snowing again at some point throughout the day and continues to do so presently; I turned to gaze out the window, and it seems unlikely to abate soon. She may have affection for the arrogant individual in the adjacent room, however it does not exclude her from feeling anger against him or denying him.

Being marked and mated to him did not necessitate her compliance with all his directives. She has independent thought and was adept at utilising it. She was determined not to become a mere doormat for him or his wolf. They want her compliance, expecting her to conform and obey their directives. Highly improbable.

Finally seated in Luna’s chair, which was obviously hers now, I positioned myself behind a substantial oak desk and surveyed Luna’s workplace. Little had altered since her departure. She intended to renovate this office and would not operate from a location previously utilised by his former partner. She may consider relocating herself and Luna’s office to an entirely other level, situated at the opposite end of the pack house.

The office included basic furnishings, including a desk and chair, the latter of which she found to be rather uncomfortable. It was entirely unlike to the one she possessed in her workplace. She rose and paced about the room, realising that she did not wish to be there at all.

Exited the office door into the lobby and almost collided with Luna Darla, who smiled at Bella, saying, “Hi Sweetie,” before frowning moments later and reaching out to touch her arm, enquiring, “What did he do now?””

“Nothing,” Bella murmured. “I simply cannot work in that office.” She confessed. Desired no association with any matters pertaining to his former companion.

Luna Darla frowned as she gazed up at her, enquiring, “What is amiss with my office?” Or our office till you begin your Luna training.

“It was her office,” Bella said before departing.

“No, it was not Bella.” “Never,” Luna Darla said as she matched her pace. “That girl would neither enter that place nor participate in Luna lessons.” That is my workspace; it embodies my essence.

Bella exhaled, “I apologise; I did not intend to offend you.”

“Bella, we can redecorate it according to your preferences.” She smiled at her. “Would you like to explore options today?”

Bella nodded, “Perhaps. I may require a few moments to compose myself.”

“What is the reason for your need to relax?” Engage in conversation with me. It is my area of expertise, as you are aware. As the former Luna, I provide assistance and support to individuals.

“He is your son.” Considers it simple to terminate my existence; a few telephone calls and all will be resolved. It will not be that straightforward.

“I believe you are referring to your superior, Ben Billy.”

“Indeed, Ben will find it implausible that I have spontaneously chosen to remain here of my own volition.” Not after all that transpired on my previous visit and the effort I exerted to remain apart.

“Likely not,” she said with a nod.

I must return to Los Angeles. Bella sighed, desiring to resolve the matter in person and independently. However, Luke had previously informed her that if she want to proceed, it should be done in person. He would be positioned just next her. She would not be travelling alone; he was resolutely opposed to that notion.

“I am confident that you can accomplish that.”

“Apparently, not without Luke’s presence,” Bella grumbled, rather exasperated by the situation. Her life throughout the preceding six years had been sufficiently uncomplicated, consisting of employment and childcare.

“Ah!” I now comprehend your predicament. You are correct. His creature can occasionally be rather fearsome and may become entirely unmanageable. I believe you will face more than simply Luke in that situation. Maddis will also be submitting his Alpha Wolf requirements. Luna Darla regarded her with a hint of apology.

Bella halted her movement and gazed at the woman. “What do you mean by stating that his wolf is a menace?””

Darla said, shaking her head, “He can occasionally lose control.” I am sceptical that this will occur presently, given your presence and Tyler’s. His beast is remarkably tranquil and content; I can certainly perceive its happiness. It is the first time in a considerable duration that I have had such sensation.

“Was his wolf not previously like that?” During my presence, he exhibited a light-hearted demeanour on occasion. Could certainly exhibit firmness and embody the Alpha Wolf archetype, yet never resort to terror.

“No, he was not,” she said. “He was injured by his former mate.” Failed to manage it effectively, that is all.

Bella, once the cherished lover of future Alpha Luke of the Red Moon Pack, finds her world shattered when she is banished from her pack. Her crime? Striking Luke’s newly discovered fated mate with claws unsheathed—a reflex her wolf, Tyler, cryptically defends with the words, “To protect the pup.” Stripped of her place in the pack and warned never to return, Bella complies, narrowly avoiding the rogue label since Luke has not yet ascended to full Alpha status. Heartbroken and resolute, she retreats to the human world, immersing herself in university life to complete her law degree. Bella carves out a new existence as a successful divorce attorney, far from the pack that cast her aside, the future Luna who despises her, and the secret she guards fiercely—her children, the legacy of a love she can never reclaim. Six years pass in self-imposed exile, but the past refuses to stay buried. When an official letter from the Red Moon Pack demands her return, Bella defiantly burns it, vowing never to step foot in Luke’s territory again. But Luke, now the reigning Alpha, is relentless. He will bring her back, no matter the cost. Bound by the constraints of human law and society, Luke cannot simply take her by force—her prominence in the human world complicates any attempt to make her disappear. Yet, he is determined to claim what he believes is his by right. As their paths cross again, Bella is thrust into a storm of conflicting emotions. Her wolf yearns for Luke, urging her to reclaim the bond they share, but Bella’s heart is torn. She despises the man who cast her out yet still feels the undeniable pull of their connection. To her, Luke’s motives are clear: he wants his heirs by his side, not her. She believes his wolf drives him to claim her, while the man himself sees her merely as the mother of his children, a convenient solution to his legacy. But is that the truth? Or does Luke harbor a deeper love for her that he has yet to admit—even to himself? In the battle between pride and fate, will Bella surrender to the mate bond or stand firm in her resolve to remain free? Only time will reveal whether their fractured past can heal, or if the scars will prove too deep to overcome.
